Have a bike, will ride. In Mauritius. And if it’s the adrenalin rushing Harley Davidson, there’s all the more reason for you to visit the pristine islands. Towering mountains cradling clear waters and a natural cloak of green—riding on a robust bike take a long and close look at the marvels of Nature. I am definitely not one of those who take a guided tour. So this sort of a sojourn is tailor-made for me.
Bikers of the world, here’s a great opportunity to ride a mean machine in Nature’s own space. My itinerary for this trip is set and for my like-minded friends, this self-ride experience promises a clean and clear equation with the Mauritian countryside.
I’ll first rent a bike from the generous options available before I vroom through the twists and turns of the island country’s natural heritage. I am waiting to feel the spirit of the country and bask in the warmth of its people so I have absolutely no doubts that a self-ride option is the best way to embark on this thrilling journey.
So whether it’s the Jummah mosque, Saint Louis Cathedral, Madurai Amen Koil Temple or China Town—I’ll have as much fun in the journey as in reaching the destination. Ditto for Curepipe, a city where e the black river gorge and the extinct of volcanoes exist. In fact, this neighbouring city of Port Louis scores brownie points on the thrill factor.
That’s not all. I can’t wait to ride through the small villages to the seven coloured earth and the scenic wonder Rhumerie de Chamarel. What’s an adventure trip without a good drink? So, at the fag end of the trip, I have plans to recharge my tired muscles with a glass of rum. I am told, it’s made on the site and I can witness the entire procedure of rum-making. Wow! All that I’ll do after that is to settle down on a lazy beach to watch the glorious sun set.
I’ve set aside one full day for an experience at Grand Baie. No sojourn to Mauritius is complete with visiting this classy town. Sugarcane farms and enchanting beaches flank the road leading to Grand Baie. Back in city life at the end of the day, I may try my luck in the glitzy casinos before heading back home the next morning.
I am excited at being on my own in a place I’ve never been before. Never ever have I travelled without a guide. So? What do you think of my itinerary? Any suggestions? Let me know.
Wait till I reach there. You guys will be the first ones to know every little detail about my road trip in Mauritius.
